The Path Less Ridden

Day 26 – Central Australia

Not a long report from today. I was tired, so didn’t leave Yulara until mid morning, then 100km down the road I had to stop to re-attempt my exhaust fix – it was starting to fail. Take two, this time with an aluminium can providing some strength.

I pushed on past Mount Connor, another sandstone monolith like Ayer’s Rock, but much less well known and frequented.

The landscape was the same mix of red earth, brown and green grasses, and occasional patches of Desert Oak.

I was heading north towards King’s Canyon, and was starting to pass the southern reaches of the George Gill Range.

A little while short of the Canyon, I pulled into a campsite for lunch, and decided to stop for the day there. I spent a relaxing afternoon doing not much, apart from climbing to the local lookout at sunset to watch the ranges. Similar sandstone to the rest of the region, it has a magical glow with the day’s dying light.
